Forum on the Participation of NGOs in the 46th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights

In collaboration with the African Commission and other human rights organizations, the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) facilitates the participation of civil society organizations, academicians and other professionals from Africa and beyond in the sessions of the African Commission.
From 7-9 November ACDHRS will host the Forum on the participation of NGOs in the 46th Ordinary session of the African Commission. The Forum will discuss the human rights situation in Africa in general, as well as draw international attention, in particular that of the African Commission, to more specific situations.
It aims to foster closer co-operation among NGOs, and with the African Commission for promotion and protection human rights in Africa; to provide a discussion platform for organizations working on democracy and human rights issues in the continent; and to promote inter-regional/organizational networking for the implementation of decisions of the Forum.

Répression en République de Guinée et réactions de la société civile africaine es
2 octobre 2009, Face à la terrible répression d’une manifestation pacifique organisée le lundi 28 septembre à Conakry pour protester contre la candidature de Moussa Dadis Camara à la prochaine élection présidentielle, des organisations de la société civile africaines et françaises ont vivement condamné ces actes de violences commis par la junte militaire.Le Réseau des Plates-Formes d’ONG d’Afrique de l’Ouest et du Centre (REPAOC) a rédigé un communiqué de presse dénonçant fortement ces actes, appelant à l’organisation d’élections démocratiques et interpellant la communauté internationale pour que ces crimes ne soient pas impunis. -

América Latina: ONGs entregaron a Presidente Zelaya reporte de la misión a Honduras y denuncian violaciones a los DD.HH
22 de septiembre de 2009, El presidente Zelaya recibió y agradeció personalmente la entrega del reporte de la misión por parte de María Pía Matta, presidenta de AMARC ALC, valorando el rol de las ONG y los medios de comunicación comunitarios en la defensa de la democracia en su país. Zelaya dijo que hará llegar este informe a la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos.
