Between 16–18 November 2009 the city of Rome will host the World Food Security Summit. The participants, which include a number of Heads of States, will be tasked with defining improved governance in terms of food and agriculture in order to overcome the current failures. Discussions about a ‘global partnership for agriculture and food security’ will be an opportunity to create consistency between actors and policies on a global scale. To that end the reform of the FAO Committee for Food security (CSA) may foreshadow the political area of this Partnership. During the discussion process, which is open to all actors under the umbrella of the United Nations, it is essential that CSOs, along with their governments, become involved in this debate.
