13 January 2012, The Thematic Social Forum (TSF) is part of the World Social Forum process and will be a preparatory step on the road to the People's Summit and Rio +20. The event will be held from 24 to 29 January 2012 and will be hosted by the cities of Porto Alegre and its metropolitan area - Gravataí, Canoas, São Leopoldo e Novo Hamburgo, in southern Brazil.

7 December 2011, Members of the International Forum of national NGO platforms, representing thousands of civil society organizations in both G20 and non-G20 countries, are calling for the G20 to deliver fundamental and far-reaching reforms of the global economic system; reforms that will ensure inclusive and sustainable development and deliver real opportunities for all citizens. Also they participated in a meeting with the president Nicoolás Sarkozy.

G8 countries commitment to finance GAVI Alliance fits into the realization of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) n°4 which aims at the reduction by three-quarters of childhood mortality before 2015.
