History and tasks of the NGO national platform

Please describe the important factors connected to the creation of your NPF

The CCOD is a collective body of a non- profit association, created on 11 September 1993. It has been registered with the public authorities under the n°115/MICSD/DGAT/DOR/SAG dated 6 July 1995.
Today the CCOD has 10 NGO members, participating in diverse domains supporting development in urban as well as rural areas.

Please describe the significant growth of your NPF

The CCOD's mission is to strengthen NGOs in their multifaceted support alongside local development initiatives.
Its objectives are:

- To facilitate consensus and partnership between the development NGO on the one hand, and between the parent association, public authorities and foreign organizations on the other,
- To collect and diffuse all information useful for the associate world and local development experience
- To strengthen institutional, educational and methodological capabilities of the NGO members
- To serve as the NGO members' spokesperson in dealing with a third party regarding problems that concern all of them
- To favour the valorisation of local resources and competences

What are the strong points of your NPF?

The CCOD is currently in partnership with SERACOB KINSHASA with the support of ACBF 'African Capacity Building Foundation) to manage the Program of strengthening capabilities of organization of civil partnerships in Central Africa in the management and prevention of conflicts. The project is going on in eight Central African countries. The CCOD is the focal point for CONGO.

The weak point of CCOD resides in its deployment of unpaid volunteers;

An annual meeting takes place once a year, a board of directors meets four times a year and a board of auditors. There is also a three- member executive secretariat managing the daily activity of the platform.

IT IS DIFFICULT TO REPLY TO THIS QUESTION AS THE SITUATION OF NGOs IN CONGO is not the same as that in countries like DRC or West African countries.
Here, the NGOs are truly considered as service providers.
In this capacity they can become stronger only in the programs and projects that they carry out.

The European Union: 8 NGOs of CCOD worked with the European Union on the Program of micro projects in the urban zone between 2002 and 2006. This program was led by the Research and technological exchange group (GRET France);

the UNDP, with whom we collaborate on several projects, such as PURAC, PRAEBASE etc... ;

the World Bank with its funds for small subsidies or still, recently on the project TONGA MBOKA that benefited from Japanese subsidy funds for social development.
Two NGOs of CCOD are in partnership with GRET CONGO for implementing the project MICAB financed by the European Union that could take off anytime between now and March 2008.
