The Year 2007 was very special for the voluntary sector in India for two reasons - the Union Cabinet formally approved the long-awaited National Policy on the Voluntary Sector on May 17, 2007 and the year marked the beginning of the 11th Five Year Plan (2007-2012), which promises to encourage partnerships between Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and government, particularly between CSOs and PRIs which also extend to joint implementation.
